SHOWING GRATITUDE TO OUR BODIES • Over the past few weeks since moving back to Brooklyn, I began easing back in to exercise after taking the past year off due to healing. I was always active growing up, in dance, cheerleading and loved going to the gym but the past 7 years since my bone marrow transplant I have found it difficult and often times impossible to find the energy to move my body in a consistent way.
Old patterns would tell me that I am not _____ enough compared to everyone else. But I am no longer interested in living my life where I am comparing my journey to anyone else’s. In the past few weeks I have showed up to hot yoga, pilates, flowed with @sashayogawellness, went to @theclass and did @melissawoodhealth workouts. This week I am feeling a bit run down so I turned to stretching and taking the longer route to appointments to get in extra steps.
And you know what? I am really proud of that, and even more grateful that my body is able to show up with me — no matter the fitness level I am at. It is exciting to think where this journey will take me.
We all start somewhere. The most powerful thing we can do is tune in to where our bodies are, show up in the best way we can and connect to the sincerest form of gratitude of what our bodies are capable of. When you really think about it, it truly is a miracle.
